Opera

This is an ongoing project of collages which are inspired by certain opera moments.

1. Das Ende

Nur eines will ich noch... das Ende
— "Only one thing I want now... the end" Wotan, act two, scene two of "The Valkyre", by Richard Wagner

2. Sich Öffnen

J: Give me keys to all the others! I must enter all these doorways. We must open every doorway!
B: Tell me why you want to, judith.
J: Because I love you
B: Through and through my castle trembles. You may open all the others... Judith careful, ‘tis my castle. Go with breathless caution, Judith.
J: I’ll go gently, very softly. Softly, softly...
— Bluebeard and Judith in Bluebeards Castle by Béla Bartók
Judith is gently opening the secret rooms of Bluebeards castle and examining hidden parts of his dark personality.

3. Welt-Entrücken

Himmelhöchstes
Weltentrücken!
Mein! Tristan mein!
Mein und dein!
Ewig, ewig ein!
— "Heaven-high soaring beyond the world! My Tristan mine! Mine and yours! Ever, ever one!", Tristan and Isolde", by Richard Wagner
Welt-Entrücken a term that is here translated as being beyond the world, which I understand as a state of being where you are not tied to the world anymore and find yourself in transcendence. The lovers Tristan and Isolde are dreaming of being one forever.
